Freda who is a dear friend of ours and is a person who we all should give thanks to. Freda and her friends have saved our landfills from additional waste by collecting milk bags to make beds for 3rd world countries. I asked her how many bags does it take to make one adult size mat and she said "800 milk bags to make one adult size mat by crocheting 2inch pieces together".Just think, if everyone saved these bags from our Land Fills how much greener our world could be! If you ask your local churches, scouts and schools to take part, we could supply beds to people who sleep on dirt or bare floors. Freda also told me her sister went as far as making a hand bag out of these milk bags which are washable and great for your market shopping days.

Chris and I visited Matanzas City Cuba in 2004 and came across a very interesting building. At first we thought it was a church but wasn't 100% sure. Next day we went for another scooter ride into Matanzas City and found the building we thought was a church filled with school children.The children noticed our camera and were yelling and hanging out the windows.We took some amazing photos of the children dressed in uniforms. The kids asked to see the digital pictures on our camera and were so excited to see themselves. At that moment, I wished we could go inside the school to meet the children and hand them the gifts we brought.

August 2007 we decided to go back to Cuba and brought my 14 year old son. We spoke about the school in Matanzas City and asked him if he would like to visit. Forgetting the children are out on a summer break, no children are to be had. We were still excited to photograph the building as it was because it had so much character.

As we began to photograph the windows of the building a old man pointed his finger to come in. I asked if he was sure..... I didn't want to get him into trouble. He brought up his hand telling me with his fingers we have 5 minutes to browse! I was so excited to see the inside of this large building. I wished we could of found out what the building was used for before it became a school.If someone knows, please let us know.

Hardest people to photograph I would say is your own children!

I can remember when I took these photos of my daughter Trisha dressed as a bride was a pretty funny evening. We did over a hundred pics in less than a hour. She was good with doing her own hair and make-up etc. but when it came down to being serious, she had a hard time with that. Must be because it's mom behind the camera taking all the pictures. At the end of the shoot Trisha asked if we were finished. I relied, YES! She then took off the veil and put it on backwards and had me laughing so much that I just had to take some pictures of her expressions. End results is the picture below this entry. All and all we were both happy with the pictures.

This morning I photographed Avery at her home with her mommy and daddy.It seems that children do so much better having portraits taken in there own atmosphere. After working a few years in a studio set up and now doing more lifestyle at home seems to capture children in a way that is more appealing to mom and dads. Plus children love to show you there toys and toy room/playroom.They warm up to you so much quicker. You don't have to worry about children running into tripods, lights and getting upset because they feel closed in or making strange because it's not a place that is familiar to them. I totally recommend to everyone with small children to try having photos taken at a place they feel comfortable at. The results will amaze you!

This morning I made a visit to photograph these two brothers that I've been photographing since they were just babies. I was nicely surprised to see the past photos I took of the children nicely framed and arrange in a creative way on the walls.

The youngest looks so much like his brother when he was younger that I was mixing names up. I can't believe how much these boys have grown. I love the expressions the children gave me this time around. Who says you have to always smile to the camera to get a great photo!

Our morning ended with the youngest giving me high five and a wave from the oldest.

I Had the pleasure to meet and photograph Jully Black last month at a Twenty Something TV Breast Fest Fund Raiser.
